Batangas celebrates 442nd anniversary

The 442nd Founding Anniversary of Batangas showcased the province's rich history and progress last Friday, December 8, 2023, attended by decision-makers of the province led by Governor Hermilando Mandanas, Vice Governor Mark Leviste, and AnaKalusugan Congressman Rey Florence Reyes.

This year’s anniversary celebration carried the theme "Melting Pot of Rich Diversity" and "Gateway to Prosperity."


Starting with a solemn Thanksgiving Mass, the ceremony featured the unveiling of a new Batangas flag, symbolizing identity and continuity, and the submission of dossiers for UNESCO recognition of the Verde Island Passage and Taal Volcano Protected Landscape.


The celebration also included the establishment of the Batangas History Society and vibrant cultural performances by the Batangas Capitol All-Stars.


Outstanding individuals of Batangas were also honored in the celebration, including Lipa City Mayor Eric Africa, and recognized for achievements in culture, arts, and public service.


Governor Mandanas highlighted the Batangueño people as the province's greatest treasure, pledging continued commitment to citizens' needs.


In essence, the anniversary encapsulated Batangas's historical significance, resilience, and collective vision for a prosperous future, emphasizing unity and pride in cultural heritage.
