THAT could be wishful thinking for people spent and weary from the effects of the pandemic.

But let’s give ourselves a break.

To many, and to us, hope springs eternal.

And it’s good to note other local government units here in Batangas like Lipa City, never bend amid the weight of high cases of coronavirus since last month and until today.

Instead, Lipa City is up and up as it beat all comers in celebrating Christmas early on by decorating and setting the city bright at night with assorted, enchanting flickering Christmas lights.

On top of this are the three giant 65-foot Christmas Trees with one nestled at the facade of the city hall and two others situated at the city’s main thoroughfare to the delight of passing weary motorists and jeepney drivers.

“Nakakapawi po siya ng stress,” a student said during an interview by national media. “Lalo na po sa gabi, mas kita sila at mas maganda.”

Christmas is a celebration and commemoration of the birth of baby Jesus.

It brings with it joy, hope, healing of broken relationships among love ones and relatives.

It is also the time when the spirit of giving is at its peak.

But above all these, we know what everyone has in mind and spirit; emancipation from the clutches and gauntlet of the pandemic.

This would be the best Christmas gift for every Juan and Juana and all over the world.

And to share some good news, it seems that we are winning the war against Covid-19.

Cases are actually waning now, here, there, and everywhere and the best gift that we can ask this Christmas is for this contagion to go away and never come back EVER AGAIN.
