In the death of “Pusong Bato” composer and its belated singer Renee “Alon” de la Rosa, original interpreter of the cult song Aimee Torres has decided to pursue the singing of her signature record despite rumors that she couldn’t sing it anymore.
“Bakit naman po? Dapat ma-rectify na sa akin ang copyright ng song at ipagpapatuloy ko po ang pagkanta nito (Why? It should be rectified that I have the copyright of the song and I will continue singing it),” said Aimee.
One of Torres’ plans is to revive the promotion of her record in Batangas.
“May malaki pong puwang ang Batangas sa puso ko (Batangas has a big part in my heart),” quipped Aimee.
Her late husband Engr. Claudio Villanueva was a true blue Lipeño and she has a lot of unforgettable memories of Lipa.
“Dahil nga po ang asawa ko ay nagsasabong, naku, madalas po, sumasama ako at kumakanta ako sa mga sabungan sa Batangas at sa Lipa (Because my late husband was fond of cockfighting, oh, I was always with him in cockpits in Batangas and Lipa),” recalled the singer.
According to Torres, when she sang “Pusong Bato” in cockpits, the people in the arena would throw paper bills or loose change money on her spot.
“Nakakataba po ng puso dahil gano’n pala kasikat ‘yong kanta ko (It’s heartwarming because I realized that’s how popular my song is),” Aimee smiled.
