Here’s another Batangueño his kababayans and province mates must be truly proud of because of his passionate and intense love for the arts.

Here’s another Batangueño his kababayans and province mates must be truly proud of because of his passionate and intense love for the arts.

He’s none other than film, television and stage actor, director, writer, technician etc., Dennis Marasigan from Lipa City.

Schooled in Lipa in his primary and secondary education, Dennis has been a dependable multimedia practitioner in this side of show business.

Other than his participation in the visual and performing arts, Marasigan is also an educator—in the arts, where else, as he has been teaching humanities and other arts subjects online at the moment of the pandemic at Mint International.

Dennis is also busy directing live performances, stage shows, commercials etc. with proper subscription to health protocols the latest of which was “Perfect 10,” a virtual band concert by the Philbanda Wind Orchestra streamed live on the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Office of the President Facebook pages last weekend.

The show featured the PWO, the country’s sole professional wind orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Herminigildo Ranera (also the conductor of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra), the virtual concert delivered its promise of a whole new level of musicality.

The concert also featured the Philippine Baton Twirling Association (PBTA), as well as various young talents from around the country.

What was impressive about the gig was the CCP’s “Sining Sigla” program’s joint collaboration with a 60-piece PWO which highlighted a decade of its symphonic performance. What was more timely was the celebration of Philippine Band Association (Philbanda)’s tenth year anniversary.

Apart from the impressive performances from the PWO, young talents from Metro Manila and local participants from different regions also showcased their talents in the premiere performance of Maestro Ranera’s “New Normal Concert March,” a rare opportunity for local musicians to perform alongside professional groups via virtual platforms.

Marasigan’s directorial dexterity was exhibited in a flawless flow of the show which was meticulously and faithfully supported by “Sining Sigla” under the leadership of CCP President Arsenio “Nick” Lizaso.

“Sining Sigla” as a project aims to continuously reach out to the public, even in the midst of the pandemic, by providing artistic and culturally-relevant content online. Past programs include “Jazz Stay At Home” (Jazz Festival), “MALA” (Movies Adapted from Literary Arts), “Sigla ng Pasko,” “Awit at Dula: Pagbabalik-tanaw sa Unang Hari ng Balagtasan” and “Pintig–A Percussion Festival.”
