TANAUAN- With Covid-19 cases winding down in the province, the Parade of Lights is about to be switched on again in time for this city’s 21st cityhood anniversary on March 10, 2022.

The Parade of Lights was shelved for almost two years because of the pandemic but this year, preparations are underway and the parade will be aired live on Tanauan City Channel.

It will also be participated in by hundreds of competitors who will vie for top honors in three different categories namely:

- TODA LIGHTS PARADE COMPETITION

- INDAK SA ILAW DANCE COMPETITION

- LIKHANG KINANG NG TANAUAN COSTUME COMPETITION

According to Barako’s Esaire Joshua Sandoval, the Parade of Lights is a beautiful and fantastic display of bright, sparkling multicolored floats representing the various businesses, organizations, barangays, and schools that make up this fast-growing tourist destination.

Former Tanauan City Rotary president and ex-mayor Tony Halili organized the Parade of Lights in collaboration with the Sports Development Council, led by former Tanauan City Rotary Club District Governor Tato Dimayuga.

The first-ever Parade of Lights happened on March 8, 2014, the city’s 442nd founding anniversary and 13th year of cityhood.

The celebration featured various activities, culminating in a spectacular evening float procession and street dancing, including the city’s numerous schools, locators, businesses, and non-governmental organizations. (OpBats/CIO Tanauan)
