After employing appropriate locations and backdrops in Lipa City and other sites in Batangas Province for ABS-CBN’s “Ang Probinsiyano,” the whole creative team including lead star Coco Martin chose to go up north and settled for Vigan, Ilocos Sur as the action caper’s setting.
While the former cast like Yassi Pressman was already out of the narrative, the production welcomed Julia Montes as one of the new cast members. Later, she joined and went up with Coco to the cities of Vigan and Candon, both in Ilocandia.
Hunk actor John Estrada and veteran character actress Vangie Labalan have also joined the new set of characters in the soap.
According to Vangie, it’s a nice experience doing a TV show in Ilocos Sur.
“Naku (Oh!), I enjoyed it so much. It’s worth it. We were in lock-in shoots and they were convenient for us,” said Labalan who is honored to be part of a new chapter in the life of Cardo Dalisay played by Coco.
Meanwhile, John has also nourished his relationship with the whole cast and crew of the production.
Estrada’s days in Vigan and Candon were complete especially when his wife Priscilla Meirelles paid her husband a series of visits to the set but the couple and the rest of the production people had observed health protocols in the face of the COVID-19 health emergency.
John and Priscilla wore masks and face shields, applied sanitizers and alcohol every now and then or as necessary and observed social distancing no matter how much they missed each other.
