In the heart of Batangas, last-term Governor Hermilando Ingco Mandanas (HIM) is set to leave an indelible mark in the history of the province with his Hapag Isdaan ng Mamamayan (HIM) a state-of-the-art fish port project aptly named after his initials.

Translated as "Fish for the Masses," this visionary initiative is poised to become a lasting legacy for HIM as it intends to address both economic and community needs in the province.

Currently, the Batangas provincial government is meticulously studying the operations of fish ports across Calabarzon and the nation, gleaning invaluable insights for the imminent construction of a revolutionary food terminal.

A groundbreaking ceremony has already been held for the HIM training and research center, marking the initial phase of this ambitious project.

Governor Mandanas has revealed plans to initiate the construction of a food transport hub on an expansive coastal property within the year in Batangas City.

While the total project cost remains undisclosed, estimations hover around the one billion pesos mark. This state-of-the-art food terminal aspires to streamline food transport in Southern Luzon, offering simultaneous employment opportunities for Batangas residents.

Governor Mandanas's proactive approach includes a pre-feasibility study and cost-benefit analysis, guided by recommendations from the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA).

This strategic undertaking aims to establish optimal operational and organizational procedures for the regional fish port operation, which from the outset is carefully being studied by a Technical Working Group made up of representatives from the Provincial Agriculturist, Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), and the Provincial Engineer's Office.

The TWG previously visited the General Santos Fish Port Complex in South Cotabato, Lucena and soon the Navotas Fish Port Complex for further benchmarking.

As Batangas prepares to welcome the future with its cutting-edge fish port, Governor Mandanas's commitment to sustainable development and economic growth stands as a testament to his dedication to the prosperity of the province and its people.

The HIM project symbolizes not just a structure of concrete and steel but a beacon of progress, promising a brighter future for Batangas and its vibrant community.
