Because of the on-going restrictions on mass gatherings to mitigate the further spread of COVID-19, cemeteries and memorial parks in the country were closed during the observances of All Saints Day and All Souls Day.

This directive was strictly followed by Lipa City so actress and movie producer Laila Dee decided to just pay her dearly departed, at least, ten days after the first and second-day of November. “Ayoko. Mahirap na. Maraming tao (I don’t dig it. I should take care. There’s a lot of people),” exclaimed Laila one week before the events.

Dee’s parents are buried at the Chinese cemetery and her action star son Roy Rustan’s ashes are inurned at the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Sebastian, both in Lipa City.

Meanwhile, Michael Laygo, Lipeño singer and former StarBrighter of the still missing popular TV host, talent manager and writer Boy C. Guia regretted not coming home when his mom and dad died one after the other recently. “Nagkasundo naman kami ng mga kapatid ko na sina Mildred at Mark na sila na ang mag-asikaso sa burol sa mga magulang namin na may mga comorbidities at na-infect ng COVID (My siblings and I agreed that they be the ones to attend to the funeral of our parents),” sighed Michael who is in Las Vegas and carries a heavy heart for deaths in the family.

“Nagkasundo rin kami na pagsamahin sa isang columbarium ang mga abo nila (We also agreed that we entrust their ashes in one columbarium),” added Laygo who momentarily stopped singing with the internationally famous Society of Seven band in the US because of the pandemic.

Mike, who made famous the cult song “Minahal Kita” got married again after his first wife Joy Laygo died in the US some years back.

According to Michael, aside from being a Lipa bona fide citizen he is also from Tiaong, Quezon.
