About time!. This Sinophobia gets the correct treatment by the government, that is not to make this a springboard for politicians to do media acrobatics.
It is the Department of Foreign affairs (DFA) that issues entry visa to students intending to do schooling here. The Bureau of Immigration gets involved in the issuing of student visa after steps done by other agencies like the Department of Education (DepEd), DFA, and NICA, the intelligence arm of the government.
Colleges and universities have expressed alarm at how our politicians are using this even before an investigation is done.
The country is promoting education tourism. Now this campaign goes to waste. So is the hard work by universities that host these students. Not all schools are allowed to take in foreign students.
This is one issue that should not be left to the hand of politicians.
