Fully vaccinated visitors can enter Phuket, Thailand on direct international flights without going through the 14-day quarantine under the country’s Phuket Sandbox 7x7 program.

FOLLOWING the launch of Phuket Sandbox on July 1st and Samui Plus on July 15, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said the island welcomed over 24,000 fully vaccinated tourists.

TAT is ready to run a new system and further extension to its reopening plans for the Phuket Sandbox 7+7 program in hopes it will pave the way for Thailand to reopen more destinations.

“There is a long way to go but with our peak winter sun season ahead (November – March) and the opening of more of Thailand’s popular beaches and islands this month, travelers can look forward to romantic getaways and fun family breaks without quarantine restrictions,” a TAT spokesperson said.

Through the program, fully vaccinated visitors can enter Phuket on direct international flights without going through the 14-day quarantine.

Phuket Sandbox’s visitors are required to stay at Safety and Health Administration Plus (SHA Plus) hotels in Phuket for their added safety.

Visitors are also required to have booked and paid for RT-PCR tests that cover the whole duration of stay in Thailand as well as a negative RT-PCR lab result at least 72 hours before travel.

More destinations in Thailand which include Bangkok, Hua Hin, and Pattaya are planning to reopen on October 1.

However, the Philippines is not among the 70 countries and territories listed by the TAT where travelers may enter the Sandbox.
