Her situation has prompted the public to refer to her as the successor of the ‘People’s Princess’ Diana. But how much can we really compare Meghan Markle to the late Prince Diana?
Although the parallels between these two princesses are almost mirroring each other in the most saddening way, Meghan is not Princess Diana.
Parallels with the People’s Princess
On February 14 2021, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced that they are expecting their second child.
This serves as a huge parallel to Princess Diana as 37 years ago was the exact date that she and Prince Charles also announced that they were expecting now Markle’s husband Prince Harry.
As what history has taught us over the past three decades, Princess Diana and the Royal Family were almost never at peace throughout her life.
In Meghan’s most recent interview with Oprah, she boldly accused the Palace of ‘perpetuating falsehood’ towards her in the light of her bullying scandal.
"I don't know how they could expect that, after all this time, we would still just be silent if there is an active role that The Firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us."

But Meghan Markle is more than just another Princess Diana
Meghan has her own identity and she has been owning it since her romance with Prince Harry was first reported.
Before taking on the duty of being a royal, Meghan found her own path to her success as an actress.
Perhaps the boldest move Meghan ever did that Diana never had the chance to do was leave the Royal Family.
It was inevitable that with the scrutiny both Meghan and Harry were experiencing since their union, the royal couple was bound to give up their titles at some point.
Like her mother, Prince Harry was known for standing up for his beliefs. He was not one to be told on what to do.
