A 66-year-old Zimbabwe man has taken it upon himself to “repopulate” his country by taking 16 wives – and he hasn’t given any signs of slowing down.

APPARENTLY a big fan of Genghis Khan, who is believed to have fathered almost half of the earth’s population, Zimbabwe senior citizen Misheck Nyandoro, 66, has made it his life goal to marry 100 wives to produce 1,000 children before he dies.

He wanted to realize his crazy dream by marrying 16 wives and producing 151 children and is still working to marry as many as 100 wives and produce 1,000 children before he dies.

But even if he makes good on marrying 100 wives there is no way that he could beat the record set by the great Mongolian leader Genghis Khan who was known to have fathered many children with different women.

A study in 2003 found that up to 16 million men, half a percent of the world’s male population, were genetic descendants of Genghis Khan.

Even more astounding was that up to eight percent of men living within the former area of the Mongol empire have Y chromosomes related to that royal line.

The line of descent goes back around 1,000 years. The genetic findings are seen by researchers as proof of the influence that an individual with many offspring can have on a species. It is also known as sex-based natural selection.

Genghis Khan was born around 1162 in Mongolia. He first married at age 16 but took many other wives and mistresses during his lifetime. Khan’s first wife, Borte, gave birth to four sons who became heirs to the dynasty.

For his part, Nyandoro’s life mission, it turned out, is to “repopulate” Zimbabwe.

Nyandoro fought the Rhodesian Bush War (from July 1964 to December 1979) to help gain Zimbabwe’s independence.

Now, Nyandoro is fighting a different “war” – helping to replenish the country's population with his 16 wives who have given him a total of 151 children with two more on the way.

And he’s shown no signs of slowing down. He said he would be marrying his 17th spouse before this year ends.

How was he able to do this?

Speaking to Zimbabwean publication The Herald, Nyandoro said he follows a strict four-times-a-night sex schedule to help keep his family growing.

Nyandoro, from Mbire District, Mashonaland Central Province, said he would go to the bedrooms on his schedule every night.

“I then satisfy them before moving onto the next room.”

Nyandoro, who does not work, said his job was to satisfy his wives, who cook, clean, and cater to his every desire.

The family mainly relies on farming and was recently allocated 93 hectares of land near the Mvurwi Mountain.

While it was unclear of his wives’ ages, Nyandoro said he keeps marrying younger women because older brides cannot keep up with his insatiable sex drive.

“I alter my behavior in the bedroom to suit the age of each of my wives. I don't act the same with the young ones as I do with the older ones,” said the self-professed polygamist who started marrying in 1983.

Fifty of his children are in school, six are working with the Zimbabwe National Army, two with police, 11 others in different professions, and 13 of his daughters are married.

If you are wondering if any of his sons are following in their father's footsteps, one of them has with four wives. (RdlC)
