This was the 29-year old Tsukki’s third gold medal this year after also ruling the Karate1 Premier League in Lisbon, Portugal last May and Golden Belt Tournament in Cacak, Serbia last March.

Filipina karateka Janna Tsukki successfully bagged her second gold medal in the Karate1 Premier League in Cairo, Egypt last September 5.

Tsukki dominated the -50 kg kumite division with a win in all of her 5 bouts, leading to a finals match-up between her and the hometown bet Rashee Areeg.

Areeg was then awarded with the silver medal and Egyptians Salama Reem Ahmed and Elgewily Yasmin Nasr bagged bronze medals.

It was a tight match between the two final competitors.

Tsukii and Areeg were locked at 1-1 until the former landed a “Yuko”, a punch to the opponent’s head or body, with just six seconds remaining in the round.

“We won the Premier League tournament! Thank you for all of your support,” Tsukii said in a social media post on Sunday.

Prior to defeating Rashed, Tsukii walloped another Egyptian karateka, Reem Ahmed Salama who ultimately ranked third in the competition, in Sunday’s quarter finals round.

She was the dominant force from the start of the competition.

Tsukii went undefeated in the round robin matches.

In the preliminary round, she stunned Austria’s Aleksandra Grujic, 8-8, and Venezuela’s Yorgelis Salazar, 3-1, finishing as the top-seeded player in her category.

With her latest triumph, Tsukii claimed a prize of €750 or around P44,000.

This was the 29-year old Tsukki’s third gold medal this year after also ruling the Karate1 Premier League in Lisbon, Portugal last May and Golden Belt Tournament in Cacak, Serbia last March.

The Fil-Japanese karateka is currently seventh in the World Karate Federation rankings for the said category.

In addition, she is also a 2019 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist.
