After being denied entry at the Valorant Champions Tour in Berlin due to visa issues, the Philippines’ VALORANT esports team decided to break with their franchise to “explore other opportunities.”

Southeast Asia’s best Valorant team has decided to leave their franchise, Bren Esports to “explore and review other possible opportunities.”

“From slowly dominating the local competitive scene to breaking barriers as the first PH Branded Esports Team to win a SEA Championship, the Bren Esports Valorant team will always have a place in the history books,” the official Bren announcement issued Wednesday said.

The team made the news earlier this month when it was announced that ir was unable to secure the proper travel documents to fly to Berlin and participate in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Masters in Berlin.

The team, made up of Kevin “Dispenser” Te, Jim “BORKUM” Timbreza, Jayveee “DubsteP” Paguiran, Riley “Witz” Go, and Jessie “JessieVash” Cuyco, is the first and only Filipino team to qualify for the tournament after dominating the SEA region.

The international tournament is set to run from September 10 to 19.

On September 3, however, the organizers and Bren Esports released the devastating news that the team will no longer compete due to visa issues and will only receive 175 VCT points and prize money for qualifying for VCT Masters Berlin.

Alex Francois, the head of competitive operations for VALORANT esports, said in an official statement that Riot worked with the local government to fly the team to Germany but was unable to find a solution before the final deadline.

“This was a tough decision and we share in the disappointment of our players and fans,” Francois said.

“Despite this setback, we are proud of Bren Esports’ achievements in VCT so far and look forward to their participation in future events.”

Had they gone to Berlin, the team would have faced the South Korean squad F4Q, the reigning champion Sentinels, and home squad G2 Esports carrying the PH flag with pride.

The team has yet to reveal their next plan of action after leaving Bren Esports.
