Samareños are betting on Julie Ann Tarrayo of Northern Samar to bring home the Miss World Philippines crown this April.

AMID all sorts of problems caused by the pandemic, Samareños have found some reasons to smile and hope as Julie Ann Tarrayo of Northern Samar tries to bring home the crown of Miss World Philippines this April.

Since last year, the former Miss Pintados has been turning heads in the Miss World Philippines contest as she made it into the event’s wish list of candidates.

Ideal candidate

Tarrayo, a Tourism Management graduate from the Northwest Samar State University, has been dubbed as “a perfect combination of science and positivity who could be a perfect candidate to represent the Philippines in international stage,” according to the pageant website angelopedia.com.

The 24- year-old aspirant is not new to the world of pageantry as she has been joining various competitions and has already won several titles, including the 2018 Miss Pintados.

She was also among the Top Ten in the Miss Bikini Philippines 2019 pageant.

Optimist

Tarrayo describes herself as disciplined and an optimist, with strong faith in God and a caring disposition towards other people.

Another plus was her humble attitude which contrasted with the “snob” stereotype that has been attributed to beauty queens.

Eyes on the crown

After Miss Universe Catriona Gray picked her hometown as part of her iconic “Celebrate” national costume, many pageant enthusiasts wanted her for the Miss Universe which she politely turned down and instead set her eyes on the blue crown.

At present time, the final screening will be held on mid-April this year as the competition for Miss World Philippines 2020 has been moved due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
