TACLOBAN City commuters can now enjoysafer, more convenient andcomfortable public transportation.

This, after the Central Tacloban Transport Cooperative (CETRANCO) launched today 18 new modern public utility vehicles (PUVs) plying the Tacloban-V&G Subdivision route.

The new Zhongtong Durabus Class 2 vehicles are equipped with Euro 5 engines that are not only economical but also environment-friendly.

The launching of the new PUVs came after the introduction of modern Russian-made PUVs for the Tacloban-Tanauan route a few weeks ago. (See also: New state-of-the-art Russian-made PUVs make for new attractions in Leyte town )

As more of these modern PUVs gradually make their way into the streets, commuters are hopeful that they would bring a positive result not only to the problem of lack of transportation but also to alleviate the ongoing problem with pollution.

City Mayor Alfred Romualdez led the launch, along with LTFRB Regional Director Gualberto Gualberto, CDA OIC Director Venus Hornales, Councilor Elvira Casal, Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) Lending Services Head Michael Mondoy, CETRANCO Board Chair Salvador Estudillo, barangay officials, and other officers of CETRANCO.
