Several areas in Eastern Visayas were affected by an earthquake that struck the region Wednesday morning.

SEVERAL areas in Eastern Visayas were affected by an earthquake that struck the region Wednesday morning.

The quake first hit the town of Mondragon, Northern Samar, with reports of magnitude 3.7 tremors reported at 3:16 a.m.

This was followed by an aftershock reported at 3:31 a.m., with a magnitude of 2.3 and a depth of 32 kilometers.

Limasawa Island, Southern Leyte on the other hand, experienced the first at 2:35 a.m. with a magnitude of 2.4 and a depth of eight kilometers. The second was at 4:57 a.m. with a lesser magnitude of 1.7 and a depth of one kilometer.

The towns of Lawaan Maslog, Lawaan, and Homonhon in Eastern Samar have also reported tremors.

No damages were reported in the affected area, according to Northern Samar provincial disaster risk reduction management officer Rei Josiah Echano. (JKA)
