Police in Eastern Samar have finally caught the leader of a criminal group that is said to be behind several killings in Samar Island.
POLICE in Eastern Samar have reported a breakthrough in their campaign to end a “culture of violence” that has marked the island for years.
Joint forces of the Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) of the Eastern Samar Field Unit, PIU of the ESPPO and municipal police of Maydolong, Eastern Samar arrested on May 7 the leader of a notorious gun-for-hire group.
The suspect, identified as Edgar Busa Ellardo, is said to be the leader of the infamous Busa criminal group that also allegedly operates gun-running activities in Eastern Samar and neighboring provinces.
Busa’s group was allegedly engaged in the killing of a barangay captain in Barangay Banuyo, Borongan City, Easter Samar last year.
The suspect, who declined to be interviewed, is now under detention at the Maydolong municipal jail while appropriate charges were filed against him.
Last year, Ruel Busa Beros, another member of the Busa criminal group, was also arrested in an operation in Taguig City. (JKA)
