“It is impossible to please God without faith.”

This claim bears serious spiritual implications upon all who take lightly the truth about faith and religion. For faith, as an indispensable requirement both in experiential and mystical religion, must be unquestionably present in a believer regardless of religious persuasion. The belief of the reality of God – that he exists is yet a fundamentally elementary religious conviction in man. In fact, I would argue that it is an innate longing found in the human heart – an inquiry of the inner man only God can fill.

One cannot come to God and demonstrate and express an unequivocal religious conviction if nothing of sort exists within him. The existentialists find the idea foolish and stupid. This is especially true to misdirected and misguided religions. The various religious expressions the world cultures have found and developed through time are of a particular subject of their ridicule and attacks. Even those that are thought to be scripturally sound would not be spared from the growing skepticism.

More than any other else, aggressively propounding radical claims about mystical faith in God are Christians. The claims of Christianity about God and his plan of redemption to the fallen man defy the seeming logical thesis of the existentialist. Their unapologetic display of lack of faith in the claims of the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ cannot be any more concealed. To them, the Christian claim is foolishness, defying logic and common sense. In the absence of tangible and visible proof, they propound it absurd and without basis.

For the modern man, faith and having the ability to powerfully demonstrate it can be a real challenge. His skepticism to the claims of the Bible can be a real hurdle he must overcome if he is to experience the reality of God. He first must believe that God exists. That the God of creation, who at one point in the history of man has revealed himself in Jesus Christ, is true. Even that, unless there is a divine dimension involved in the process, faith in God among the skeptics would be an impossible personal occurrence. Would to God that in his unconditional grace and mercy a cynic may abundantly be afforded of the gift of faith.

The least that modern man can do is to listen to the Christian claims of God. Fortunately, the powerful preaching of the revealed word of God, if seriously and intelligently considered and embraced by the worst of skeptics will produce a saving and living faith within him. It’s the only chance for an effective doubter to come to a profound realization of the existence and reality of God.

Unless this is resolved, the growing and increasing unbelief in today’s seriously cynic generation can lead to mankind’s irreversible social, moral and ethical ruin.#
