The QVAC system is an undoubtedly laudable scheme. Its proponent LGU Palo is worth commending. But however efficient and speedy the process, without vaccine available, it would be useless just the same. While it apparently solves the problem of crowding and extended hours of waiting and the long queue of people lining up to get their vaccine shot, it won’t readily solve the unnecessary extension of the COVID crisis.

Prevailing Want in COVID Vaccine

As long as there is a want in COVID vaccine supply as is the sad case in this country, IT-based interventions such as this QVAC or anything of the likes will be deemed inutile and useless. The public will remain wary still of the obtaining pandemic regardless. What the government should be working out really and seriously now is to secure its position in the global scene. It should be finding its way to get itself express access to whatever COVID-19 vaccines are available in the market as of date. It should be able to hasten its ability to provide its people the needed serum. Otherwise, its failure to do so will be a critical setback that opposition and critics of this administration will use against next year’s election.

Failure to build credible capability

Needlessly, our failure to build a credible capability to readily reward and pay manufacturers and suppliers for the needed COVID 19 vaccine supply could already be taking a toll. Sobra na la it aton. Other nations, the likes of Israel, the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and many other west countries, even India has already secured vaccines more than they need. Nagpapanunubra na ngani. Thanks to Pinoy's apparent health resilience that as of date COVID fatality rate remains at its lowest at over 1 percent. Plus the recovery rate of Pinoys getting infected with the COVID disease remains unbelievably and surprisingly high at 96 percent or so.

Or are we second class citizens of this world that we deserve less of any immediate medical interventions as compared to other nationalities?

The current geopolitical and economic makeup and our country’s status in the global setting certainly play a critical role on the matter. How much more if the world is facing a seriously catastrophic crisis worse than COVID, that would place the entirety of mankind in epic adversity. We would certainly almost lose our place on the global map just as we have lost our critical place in the global race for COVID 19 vaccine access.

With or without QVAC scheme, what is important is that we have a ready and continuing COVID vaccine supply nationwide.
