OCTA Research report says Covid-19 spread is slowing down. Hospital association reports hospital coronavirus cases rising fast.

What to believe now?

“It depends. We believe the opposite of what the Palace spox says,” claims my paisano.

A friend new in town asked a young UP student in Diliman:

“Do you have a criminal lawyer in the campus?”

The young student replied: “We have, but can’t prove it. It’s even dangerous to investigate as he speaks for a very important person.

The same friend was referred to a law firm at the Bonifacio Global City. Attending to his case was a fresh graduate who just passed the bar exams.

My friend: To be frank, aren’t you too young to handle my case?

Young lawyer: But sir, nothing to worry about, by the time the case makes some progress, I’ll be old enough.

Surprisingly, of the six names making the rounds as serious candidates for president of the country, only one is a lawyer and a woman at that.

The top six names are Sen. Bong Go, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, Sen. Ping Lacson, former Sen. Bongbong Marcos and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno. The sixth is Vice President Leni Robredo.

My paisano tells me Sara Duterte is definitely not running and it has been decided in the Palace that Bong Go shall be the next President of the country.

###

It’s in the Senate where lots of the lawyers are in. Understandably, the Senate makes laws of the land, better that they be lawyers, my paisano argues.

But the better laws are those pushed by the non-lawyers in the Senate, another paisano insists.

In the news, cash aid in pandemic results in budget deficit hitting 29.4% to P958.2 billion.

Decades ago, this was the joke about government deficit: a solon suggested the government should spend the deficit.

My paisano suspects, the country’s economic managers are exactly doing what this joke of a suggestion wanted, so that deficits continue to rise with the reported exponential rise of coronavirus cases.

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas is hoping to trigger higher economic activities by taming cost of money but warns of inflation rise.

Supply disruptions on food prices contributed in part to the higher than expected inflation outturn in August.

So, cost of living continues to go up while income opportunities stay at standstill at best.

The presidential plane crashes, instantly killing President Ferdinand Marcos and Vice President Lopez and their wives.

At the pearly gates, St. Peter asked, who might you be? Pres. Marcos says, I am President of the Philippines.

“Ah yes, you’re president of the only Catholic country in Asia. Come sit on my right”.

I am Eugenio Lopez, Vice President of the Philippines. “Yes, you are loved by the Filipinos. Come sit on my left”.
“Now, who might you be,” St. Peter said facing Imelda Marcos.
“My name is Imelda Romualdez Marcos, First Lady of the Philippines and you are sitting on my seat”.
