WE write this piece hoping we’ll get across Batangas Provincial Health Department Office chief Dr. Rosvilinda Ozaeta.

But of course, we have nothing personal against Dr. Ozaeta, who holds a master’s degree in public health, Provincial Health Officer II category or classification, department head for public health and administrative service.

Under her wings, there are at least 12 provincial hospitals for her to attend to.

That’s a handful, even half of those are enough to fill her day.

But down the provincial health office’s organizational chart, Dr. Ozaeta has a lot of people to delegate this or that health matter and, on top of which these days, needless to say, is the prevailing health crisis. There’s a lot of work to do.

The good doctor could use this piece as a wake-up call for her department, which sad to say, more than half of Batanguenos, doesn’t subscribe to any more online.

Why?

They don’t trust it anymore with regard to updating daily cases and other records.

It’s losing its credibility with each passing day.

What they have simply don’t jibe with what local government units in the province really have.

Dr. Ozaeta’s department has become consistently inconsistent in tabulating daily cases. This prompted

some LGUs like big cities Tanauan, Sto. Tomas, and Lipa put up their own sites online.

To wit:

The PHO reported a huge 129 number of new positive cases last May 13 when in fact, the city of Lipa only had 22 Covid-19 cases.

The time increment for this was only one hour. The city posted it at 5 p.m. and yet, the PHO posted an hour earlier (at 4 p.m).

Dr. Ozaeta’s office did it again the following day, 30 cases compared to Lipa’s 13; 0 for the PHO while 19 for the city on May 11; and 39 against the 32 of Lipa the next day.

Then again, lately, the PHO chalked up 15 cases as against the 50 of Lipa; and 37 against 9 of Lipa’s record on May 15.

In the case of Tanauan, the PHO only hit it twice right for the period May 10 to 14 as follows: May 10 - 43 for Tanuan and 42 for the Capitol; May 11 - 10/12; May 12 - 20/20 (check); May 13 - 15/17; and May 14 - 13/13 (check).

“Hindi po talaga nagtutugma ang sa Kapitolyo at sa mga LGU ang record sa mga kaso ng Covid,” a netizen remarked.

We have too much respect for Dr. Ozaeta and we freely assume she knows the importance of concrete and correct information for the people in the middle of the health crisis that we are in now.

We hope too, Dr. Ozaeta checks her people down below whether their laptops or desktop computers are still working soundly.
