We are on the cusp of another year, with 2021 right around the corner; “2020” has been synonymous with a lot of things, mostly to do with great trials and tribulations.

Holding On Tight To Hope

Forgoing any attempt to sugarcoat this, it was an absolute mess of a year, with COVID-19 ravaging a world already in unstable condition. Everyone has had to comply with necessary guidelines and restrictions, as stubbornness and refusal to adapt would be met with dire consequences in regards to the pandemic.

Facing The New Normal

Even as the notorious 2020 comes to a close, there is no certainty that 2021 would be any easier.

We would be very lucky for this pandemic to end in the coming year, but luck means nothing in the face of a worldwide crisis.

This “new normal” would continue, indefinitely, testing our ability to adapt for as long as we are made to do so. It is all a matter of unified patience, cooperation, and discipline.

Success Put On Hold

When 2020 had freshly arrived, I told myself, “This is going to be my year!”.

Many of us had thought the same for themselves, unaware we were all on the precipice of a historically significant event.

The lockdown came to be, and everyone stumbled and struggled through a rough transition.

Even after about nine months of adjustment, there are still a lot who find difficulty dealing with the ongoing situation, myself included.

The pursuit of any sort of success feels as though it were put on hold, with mere survival taking priority.

Complete Healing Begins

One troubled by such things may have hopes that 2021 might offer brighter skies.

Though such a desire is good to have, it is important to acknowledge that the sustained effort and perseverance required from everyone should be—first and foremost—for the sake of completely eliminating the persistent problem of COVID-19.

The issue must be properly resolved before the process of a more “complete” healing may begin, in the lives of each individual and in the whole of society.

Holding On To Hope

Dates, years, and all such things serve as markers rather than time limits.

There is no set date for the pandemic to end.

With this uncertainty being clear, our hopes must not be held for the sake of hurrying a slow and tedious process, but we must instead hold onto these hopes to keep ourselves going in the midst of an indefinitely long and arduous period of time.

May we all look forward to 2021 with our chins up, eyes on the road, and feet on the ground.
