2021 is finally here. Is it going to be better, worse, or just the same? Who knows? There’s only one way to find out and that is to live to see it.

If you’re reading this, you’ve made it through 2020 alive. That in itself is a feat worthy of celebration, regardless of the fact that these years are mere numbers.

The year that has just ended has been filled with hardships and uncertainty for all of us, and knowing that we can enter this new one with a renewed hope is a good thing worth holding onto.

No Cause For Fear

This uncertainty of the future doesn’t have to be a cause for fear.

In fact, it is such uncertainty that can bring about the confidence that we are not doomed. Even on the scale of our individual selves, we can do what is necessary to secure a better tomorrow, even if little by little.

Though there may be all these limitations and restrictions, there is no harm in continuing to hope for good or even great things for the future.

Though our focus may be fixated on making sure we continue to survive until the eventual end of this troublesome period of time, it is no complete hindrance to our ability to strive for what is desirable.

We are no less human for the things life throws at us.

New Year, New Me

New Year’s Day usually calls for certain ideas or mindsets such as that of the “New Year’s Resolution” or “New Year, New Me”.

The general concept is that as a new year comes, it is an opportunity to set new goals for oneself, specifically those involving self-improvement.

Of course, there is no need for a holiday celebration to set goals and objectives for oneself. But if it helps, why not?

Go Through It

As long as the desire to improve oneself is genuine, I don’t think it really matters whether or not someone does it with tradition or a number in mind.

It’s somewhat similar to the way educational systems have semesters and curricula, in that it’s a way to set a pace and flow for learning and completing objectives within a certain amount of time (in this case, about a whole year).

With new general ideas of how to go about our lives and new hopes to hold onto, 2021 may still prove to be a better year.

We’ll never know for sure, but there really is nothing to it but to go through it.
