Light to moderate, with at times heavy rains are possible over Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and the Dinagat Islands due to the trough and the outermost rain bands of typhoon "Odette."

SEVERAL areas in Mindanao have been placed under Signal No. 2 as typhoon "Odette" continues to inch closer to the Philippine mainland Wednesday morning (December 15).

In its 11:00 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) located the center of "Odette" at 590 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, moving westward at 20 kph.

"Odette" is also carrying maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center with strong winds or higher extending outwards up to 330 km from the center.

"Odette is forecast to move west-northwestward until this afternoon or evening, then westward thereafter," Pagasa said.

The following areas have been placed under Signal No. 2:

- The eastern portion of Surigao del Norte (Claver, Siargao, and Bucas Grande Islands)

- Surigao del Sur

Meanwhile, the following areas have been placed under Signal No. 1:

- the northern portion of Misamis Occidental (Plaridel, Baliangao, Sapang Dalaga)

- the northern portion of Zamboanga del Norte (Dapitan City, Sibutad, Rizal, La Libertad, Dipolog City)

Light to moderate, with at times heavy rains are possible over Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and the Dinagat Islands due to the trough and the outermost rain bands of the typhoon.

Strong winds with higher gusts, and moderate to high seas will be experienced in these areas.

Due to “Odette” and the northeast monsoon, the gale warning remains in effect for the seaboard of northern Luzon, eastern seaboard of central Luzon, eastern and western seaboards of southern Luzon, western seaboard of the Visayas, and the eastern seaboard of Mindanao not under any wind signal.

Moderate to rough seas will also prevail over the remaining seaboards of central Luzon, southern Luzon, and the Visayas, and the western and northern seaboards of Mindanao that are not under any wind signal.
