The Local Government of Pagbilao, Quezon led in the pilot rollout of pediatric COVID-19 inoculations in Quezon province.

PAGBILAO, Quezon- AS the Philippines enters third year of battling the Covid-19 pandemic, the local government here has started vaccinating children aged 5 to 11 against Covid-19 in the pilot rollout of ResbakUNA Kids last Monday.

The vaccination sites were decked out in festive and colorful balloons to entertain the children while they waited to be vaccinated.

Mayor Shierre Ann Palicpic distributed chocolates to the children to incentivize them for getting their much-needed protection against Covid-19.

The children first underwent screening before they were injected with the reformulated Pfizer vaccine, which was administered by the municipal health officer Dr. Riki Tolentino.

Children must be accompanied by their parents or guardians during immunizations.

Meanwhile, the Rural Health Unit (RHU) conducted its first dose of Covid-19 vaccination for children aged 5 to 11 on February 17 at the Municipal Covered Court.

The Pfizer vaccine is being used for the vaccination because it is the only one that has received emergency use approval from the Philippines' Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for children aged 5 to 11 years.

Pfizer's vaccine for them has a lower dosage and concentration than those given to adolescents aged 12 to 17.
