The Metro Manila mayors have finally agreed to allow 15 years old and older to go out of their houses in a bid to stimulate economic activities after a strong push from NEDA.

AFTER lengthy deliberations, the Metro Manila Council and the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) have agreed to lower the age limit of minors allowed to leave their house.

The decision was reached last night during which the mayors agreed that persons aged 15 years old and above should be allowed to go out.

Previously, only those 18 years old and above are allowed to leave their homes in Metro Manila.

The mayors, however, failed to deliberate on the proposal of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) to place the entire country under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

NEDA Director General Karl Chua was insisting that placing the entire Philippines under MGCQ, will help stimulate economic activities in areas that are still under stringent lockdowns.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos, said the mayors prioritized the issue on the age limit which they deemed was more important than whether placing the entire country under MGCQ or not.
