SENATOR Panfilo Lacson, who is running for president in the 2022 elections, recently aired concerns that the coming political exercise could easily be rigged.

This, despite the meticulous preparations and security measures being implemented and planned by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Lacson said, "Ang dayaan di sa precinct level or agaw-balota. In this day and age of modern technology iba ang usapan, it’s computerized."

The senator from Cavite said he was looking into "worrisome" reports about against poll technology provider Smartmatic, and said that the incumbents in the administration have the advantage in Eleksyon 2022.

Assessing the chances of the opposition and the administration in the coming polls,

Lacson said: "Definitely, they have all the advantages. The resources, whether its financial or logistical resources. This keeps on coming up, Smartmatic, ‘di mo maalis. There are reports we keep receiving, di lang [not only in] 2019 or 2016, nagsimula ito in 2010. Worrisome, bothersome ang reports na dumarating sa amin, that Smartmatic might have been compromised."

It can be recalled that Lacson's VP partner, Senate President Vicente Sotto III, exposed last year evidence of fake transmission of election results in the Comelec's official tally, one day before the actual elections.

This certainly is not only a cause for worry, but it's a cause for alarm, as the senator pointed out.

We can only call for vigilance and actual involvement of the people in the elections to ensure credible and honest polls.#
