In a recent notice to the public, the TPB said it has partnered with the Philippine Children's Medical Center (PCMC) to provide free RT-PCR tests to "qualified" domestic tourists.

ONE factor hindering the resumption of domestic tourism in the Philippines has been the exorbitant cost of the RT-PCR Covid-19 test that is currently a requirement in entering many tourist destinations in the Philippines.

Starting November 1, however, domestic tourists may now avail of free RT-PCR tests, according to the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB).

In a recent notice to the public, the TPB said it has partnered with the Philippine Children's Medical Center (PCMC) to provide free RT-PCR tests to "qualified" domestic tourists.

"The 100% subsidy will also be applicable to those who have already applied whose departure date is November 1 onwards," the board added.

Last September, the TPB has opened applications for travelers availing of subsidized RT-PCR tests for domestic tourists in Metro Manila, after the “Alert Level System” was imposed by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

Meanwhile, applicants are advised to check with the local government unit (LGU) of their chosen destination for specific restrictions and other safety protocols before they travel.

Travelers may visit the TPB website (https://www.tpb.gov.ph/rtpcrphtravel-application/) for more information on the application procedures and requirements.
