During the relief operations conducted by his team in said towns, last Saturday, Go expressed his condolences to the residents and assured them that the national government is providing all possible assistance. He also urged local authorities to complement such efforts, emphasizing the important role they play in meeting the needs of their constituents.

Go’s team provided snacks and masks to 1,332 residents at the Borbon municipal gym and Barangay Catmondaan covered court in Catmon. They also provided select individuals with new pairs of shoes or tablet-computers for their children’s educational needs.

In another distribution, staff from the Department of Social Welfare and Development extended financial assistance. The Department of Trade and Industry and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority also conducted assessments for their livelihood and scholarship programs, respectively.

The senator then offered to help those in need of medical care and advised them to use the services of their nearest Malasakit Centers. He started the first Malasakit Center at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City in 2018 with the goal of providing convenient access to government medical assistance.

The center is a one-stop shop that connects the poor and other financially disabled patients with national agencies that offer medical assistance, such as the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
