Quezon City's senior citizens are now excited with the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines, but health authorities said they must consult with their doctors first.

More vaccines be allotted to places with high cases of new infections to prove the efficacy of the vaccine in addressing COVID 19.

WITH the recent arrival of 487,200 doses initial shipment of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines, senior citizens and persons with disabilities of Quezon City are awaiting their jabs.

QC Mayor Joy Belmonte ordered and placed advanced payment for this brand of vaccine.

Rep. Rodolfo Ordanez, former assessor of the city and now representative of Senior Citizen Partylist, advised these sectors to consult with their doctors as to what medicines they would need for their conditions even before getting the shots.

Meantime Rep. Angelica Natasha Co of BHW Partylist suggested that more vaccines be allotted to places with high cases of new infections to prove the efficacy of the vaccine in addressing COVID 19.

“Following their vaccination priorities and protocols, I ask the Department of Health to deploy some of the vaccines in areas which have been experiencing worrisome rise in new COVID-19 cases. By doing this, we can show to the public how effective the vaccines are in real-world situations,” Co said.

Proving the efficacy will help build public confidence and “overcome fears of the coronavirus as we keep our guard up by still wearing face masks, protective gear and practicing good personal hygiene.”

“Coronavirus fears have our gripped officials and citizens to the point that some of the fears are simply unfounded and have no evidence whatsoever,” said Rep. Co.
