The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has set up guidelines on reopening certain sectors of the economy as the government’s COVID-19 vaccination program finally kicks off.
Mass gatherings to be limited to 30 percent in GCQ areas; 50 percent in MGCQ areas
TO FULLY ensure public health and safety following the rollout of the government’s vaccination program against COVID-19 last March 1, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has set up guidelines on reopening certain sectors of the economy.
This, as the agency has released a memorandum circular to guide authorities and businesses which are set to reopen in general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ areas.
Under the circular, libraries, libraries, museums, cultural centers, meetings and conventions, limited tourist attractions and video games arcades are allowed to operate at a maximum of 50 percent in GCQ and 75 percent under MGCQ areas.
Traditional cinemas, on the other hand, are limited to 25 percent capacity in GCQ areas and 50 percent in MGCQ areas.
Social events and other mass gatherings are also limited to 30 percent in GCQ areas and 50 percent in MGCQ areas.
The DTI said the following protocols will ensure that health and sanitary protocols will still be enforced as the economy gradually recovers from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Following the earlier agreement at the IATF, DTI issued the circular that will guide the implementation of a safe and gradual reopening of more businesses and economic activities," Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said
"This is part of our mandate to ensure that as more businesses reopen to provide more jobs and sources of income for our countrymen, the strict health protocols are enforced," he added.
