A worker in Balintawak public market peels off newly-delivered onions from Nueva Ecija, now being sold at P250 per kilo.
The Department of Agriculture is mulling importing onions should the Bureau of Plant Industry find a shortage of the item as its price keeps increasing beyond P300 per kilo when the suggested retail price is P170. In this photo obviously there is no shortage, traders are just manipulating the supply to force prices up and push the importation of cheap onion from China.
