With inflation not expected to ease, the government is being asked to provide the necessary and immediate assistance to affected sectors, including middle class, who are being hit hard by fuel and food price spirals.

Rep. Angelica Natasha Co of BHW Partylist asked the government's quick response to an elevated inflation of 6.1 percent in June, which is expected to be sustained in the coming months, through more ayuda, immediate release of targeted aid to affected sectors and more libreng sakay routes.

She said such quick responses are urgent to fight inflation, which is expected to stay elevated in the months ahead.

"I represent the Barangay Health Workers and the frontliners in the health and wellness sector where there are tens of thousands of marginalized individuals and breadwinners. Inflation hits them hard. The impact on their household budgets is immediate and felt every day," she said.

I add my voice to the calls for more effective action, including targeted subsidies giving direct aid to the poor and lower-middle-income families.

We need Libreng Sakay buses and jeepneys going to Manila and linking to the EDSA route going south to Pasig, Mandaluyong, Makati, Pasay, Muntinlupa, and Paranaque. Libreng Sakay means immediate savings which can instead be used to buy food and medicines.

Mas mahal na ngayon ang tinapay, mantika, gamot, pamasahe, at marami pang iba. Hindi sapat iyong pagtaas ng minimum wage.

Ibalik dapat yung pa-ayuda ng DOLE (Department of Labor and Employment)na TUPAD at CAMP dahil mabilis yun na natanggap ng mga mahihirap na nagtatrabaho o nagsara ang negosyo.

Tupad is Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/displaced workers provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers for at least 10 days but not to exceed 30 days.

CAMP is COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program is aid for informal and formal sectors.

I suggest to everyone to be discerning whenever the latest inflation data are released.

Check the details, breakdown, and tables. Do not just look at the national average. The details will show which products' prices are rising and where, she said.

1. Transport dahil sa fuel prices

2. Corn

3. Oils and fats. Mantika. Mantikilya.

4. Vegetables, patatas, kamote, saging

5. Sugar, confectionery, desserts

6. Fish and seafood

7. Meats and cuts of land animals

8. Flour, bakery products, pasta, cereals in NCR

9. Utilities tumaas in many regions.

Mas mataas ang inflation sa mga probinsiya kesa NCR lalo na sa ilang produkto. Transport costs kasi tumaas. Pero mataas rin sa NCR dahil mataas ang consumer demand dito dahil sa dami ng tao.

In the months ahead, expect higher prices of imported products and products with high import content.

Those goods are affected by peso depreciation and high fuel costs.
