5 nabbed for illegal possession of firearms in Quezon

Authorities responding to a complaint of indiscriminate firing arrested five individuals carrying unregistered firearms in Atimonan, Quezon.

FIVE individuals were recently arrested for alleged possession of illegal firearms in Atimonan, Quezon.

The Atimonan Municipal Police identified the suspects as Edgar Tortor,48; Alvin Desalisa, 57; Bonifacio Layan, 49; Alberto Oblifias, 50; and Augustus Suarez, 43 years old.

The authorities served an arrest warrant to the suspects after they allegedly fired their guns indiscriminately, causing fear among residents in Barangay Angeles around 4:30 p.m. last Sunday.

When confronted, the suspects were unable to produce the necessary documents for their firearms.

Police also found several empty shells from fired bullets in the area.

The suspects were detained at the Atimonan police jail while charges of alarm and public scandal and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition under Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition were being prepared against them.
