PAGBILAO, Quezon – SOME16 people were injured after a passenger jeep fell off a 100-meter ravine along the Old Zig-zag Road in this town Wednesday (February 16).
Pagbilao police commander Major Milo Tabernilla identified 12 of the victims as driver Ronnel Francia, 28, of Brgy.Tagas San Jose, Camarines Sur; passengers Benz Jomar Fuentes, 23, John Cedric Gardon, 15, Gina Lozano, 52, Sharmaine Corino, 26, Noli Mendoza Francia, 18, Beah Grace Camacho, 10, Anabel Camacho, Jose Camacho, Cherry Samson, Solen Samson, and Analyn Arnejo.
Tabernilla said the driver of the Cavite-bound jeep lost control of the vehicle after its brakes suddenly failed along the zigzag road in the vicinity of Barangay Silangang Malicboy.
The vehicle then crashed through a barrier and subsequently fell into the ravine.
Members of the Pagbilao Police Station and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) immediately responded in the scene and conducted rescue operations.
The victims were brought to the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City for medical attention.
