Majority of Quezon City’s businesses have switched to the city’s QC E-Service to file their business permit applications, eliminating “fixers” as well as ensuring the safety of business owners amid the continuing Covid-19 pandemic.

The Quezon City government is now looking forward to a complete digitalization of its business permit applications in the near future.

This, after the local Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD) reported that around 95 percent of business permit applications received by the city – new applications and renewal of old licenses – are now sent online.

“This means that less and less people are coming to city hall to engage in face-to-face interactions with city personnel for their business applications,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement Monday (October 18).
“We really mean business when it comes to permitting. Through our fully automated E-Services, we have standardized and improved how we transact with business owners,” she added.

According to BPLD Head Margarita Santos, majority of businesses have been using QC E-Services to file an application for business permits since July.

“Business owners have greatly benefited from our end-to-end digitization process, which has significantly shortened waiting time, eliminated the hassle of going physically to City Hall, and reduced exposure and risks to Covid-19,” she explained.

Aside from this, the new online service has virtually eliminated “fixers,” Santos added.

“This is our way of saying that we do not only value our businesses in Quezon City, we also protect and promote their welfare in all ways possible,” she noted.

BPLD is now also pioneering the free and automated delivery of all evaluated and completed permits.

She added that overall, the digitization of all BPLD processes targets one of the city’s 14-point agenda which is to make QC the preferred destination for businesses, and zeroes in on Mayor Belmonte’s advocacy of good governance.
