Two primary schools in Quezon City were chosen by DepEd to participate in the pilot face-to-face classes that will start on Monday after complying with all the requirements imposed by the government.

AFTER assurance of minimum health and safety protocols and compliance with all regulations, two Quezon City schools were chosen by the Department of Education (DepEd) to participate in the pilot run of limited face-to-face classes starting Monday (December 6).

Bagong Silangan Elementary School and Payatas B Annex Elementary School in Barangays Bagong Silangan and Payatas respectively, are among the 28 learning institutions in Metro Manila that will resume in-person classes.

Each school underwent a safety assessment by a team from DepEd and the Department of Health.

“Ikinatutuwa ng pamahalaang lungsod na magiging bahagi ng pilot face-to-face classes ang dalawa sa ating mga pampublikong paaralan. Makatitiyak ang mga magulang na magiging ligtas ang kanilang mga anak, maging ang mga guro, sa kanilang pagbabalik-eskwela,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

To recall, the local government has started issuing safety seals to schools located in the city last month to confirm their compliance with the minimum health and safety protocols and building regulations set by the national and the local government.

Prior to the selection to participate in the pilot run of face-to-face classes, the two schools were visited by an inspection team who made sure that they have water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities, proper ventilation, and enough classroom space to make sure that physical distancing is strictly implemented.

Physical barriers, markers, and signs were also put in place to ensure observance of physical distancing.

The schools also have isolation rooms and on-standby ambulances.

According to the Schools Division Office, students and teachers will be divided into two groups.

Their classes will be a combination of face-to-face classes and distance learning that are scheduled weekly.
