Los Banos mayor contracts Covid-19

Los Banos, Laguna Mayor Antonio Kalaw is currently asymptomatic and under isolation.

THE list of local officials who have contracted the coronavirus in Laguna province keeps growing.

In a statement issued Monday (September 20), Los Banos Mayor Antonio "Tony" Kalaw confirmed that he has caught Covid-19.

"Ang inyo pong lingkod ay malakas at nasa mabuting kalagayan," Kalaw said in the statement posted on the LGU's Facebook account.

The mayor is currently asymptomatic and under isolation, while the Mayor's Office at the Los Banos Municipal Hall has been closed and its staff subject to quarantine.

Vice Mayor Josephine Sumangil has also been appointed officer-in-charge for 14 days, from September 19 to October 2, while Kalaw is under observation.

"Ang Municipal Government of Los Banos ay patuloy ang serbisyo kasama ng lahat nang departamento ng Munisipyo," the mayor assured.

Kalaw also urged his constituents to remain vigilant and continue to observe health protocols against the virus.

"Wala pong sinisino ang Covid," he stressed.

As of September 20, the Los Banos Municipal Health Office has reported 4,111 confirmed and 462 active Covid-19 cases, with 3,489 recoveries and 160 deaths.
