Advertising and promotion or adprom is an essential and crucial concern not only on commercial products or services but also to humans who want to build a reputable image or character in a society or community.

Or PR can spin the not-so-pleasant shades of things and people.

It might be an inorganic instrument to achieve better interaction and understanding with people around us but it surely helps in pushing for an agenda be it for self-aggrandizement, half-commitment or unselfishness.

This brings to mind a concert of Fil-Brit singer Seann Miley Moore in London in 2015, 2016 and 2019.

Look closely at the picture and you’ll notice that there’s no name of the mayor of London, just “Supported by Mayor of London.”

To think that the incumbent Prime Minister of UK Boris Johnson and Sadiq Khan are ones involved in these shows.

Can you imagine if this is the norm in our political society not only on infrastructure, social services, cultural projects etc. but in everyday programs?

There wouldn’t be “This is a priority project by ER Ejercito” or “Road widening by Ramil Hernandez” or “Women empowerment by Lourdes Cataquiz” etc. anymore but simply “A project by Governor of Laguna” or “A project by Mayor of San Pedro City” especially if the budget comes from the LGU coffers, meaning public money, people’s money.

Or look at the billboards or streamers displayed on the streets where “Best so and so” or awards are announced publicly.

Let’s all stop these self-serving acts as the Filipinos and the Philippines are wallowing in poverty and indifference and why can’t we emulate what a rich, First World country like England is doing?

We, the voters, including the candidates and politicians as well should think fast before it’s too late.
