Britney Spears is seeking to have a certified public accountant take over as the conservator of her estate, real estate, and health care decisions.

AFTER a long battle for freedom, Britney Spears‘ father, Jamie, finally agreed to exit his role in the pop star's conservatorship.

The turn of events is a massive win for the international pop star, who has been under a conservatorship for 13 years, ever since the older Spears placed his famous daughter under the court-ordered arrangement in 2008 when she suffered from a very public breakdown.

A conservatorship is “a court case where a judge appoints a responsible person or organization (called the ‘conservator’) to care for another adult (called the ‘conservatee’) who cannot care for himself or herself or manage his or her own finances.”

In 2008, following her public mental crisis, Spears placed his daughter under the court-ordered guardianship in a seeming measure of protection for the international superstar’s wellness.

However, in light of her recent bombshell testimonies, the #FreeBritney movement has garnered massive support to pressure the legal system to interfere in the embattled arrangement.

In a public court appearance last June 23, Britney Spears detailed the abusive treatment she continues to suffer under her conservatorship, an arrangement that has seen the pop star’s father manage nearly every aspect of her life including her wealth, image and music career since 2008.

He agreed to be removed from his daughter’s conservatorship so long as the transition is orderly and resolves all pending matters related to his acts as her conservator, he said in a filing Thursday with the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Within that document James Spears’ lawyers claim there were no actual grounds for his suspension or removal and that it is “highly debatable whether a change in conservator at this time would be in Ms. Spears’ best interests.”

The 39- year -old remains under the care of a personal conservator, professional Jodi Montgomery.

The nature of the singer’s mental health issues has never been publicly revealed.
