Knowing that many Filipinos show their support through art, Netflix Philippines partnered with four artists to create artworks inspired by the imagery and moments from all four seasons of the series.

THE first part of the final season of Money Heist is out now on Netflix and Filipino fans have unleashed their creativity and humor in celebration of the hit Spanish series.

Money Heist, originally “La Casa de Papel”, is a crime drama series from Spain by Alex Pina intended to be a limited series in 2017 but it didn’t get enough attention in the country.

Luckily, Netflix picked it up and increased its budget, viewership, and story.

By 2019, it was one of the most talked-about Spanish series on the international streaming service, the Philippines included.

Knowing that many Filipinos show their support through art, Netflix Philippines partnered with four artists to create artworks inspired by the imagery and moments from all four seasons of the series.

Called the #LaCasaDePapelChallenge, the artists have been chosen for their experience and knowledge in papercrafts which included papercutting, quilling, origami, and paper model.

The Royal Mint of Spain, the main setting of Season 1, has been beautifully recreated in a shadow box art by Patrick Cabral.

Meanwhile, John Ed De Vera remembers the scene in Season 2 when a blimp was used to make it rain money in Madrid as a distraction in his artwork that combined papier tole and kirigami.

Mansy Abesamis carved the lyrics of the song Bella Ciao in a papercut artwork designed to resemble the Dali mask used in the show.

Her second artwork is the Bank of Spain, the show’s setting since Season 3.

Sarjit Singh also made two artworks for the show, he calls “Red origami bird” from Season 1 and “Alicia’s teddy bear” from Season 4

They were not the only artists who celebrated the new season through art because netizens were quick to create memes and jokes after the hit show.

In one scene, a character says, “I don’t go to the Philippines. I don’t go to the Philippines.” and the fans responded with the reply, “Edi don’t.”

While another netizen replied with, “Wag na kayo pumunta, we have our own money heist.”

Part 2 of Season 5 will be released on Netflix on December 3.
