Filipino director Vincent Soberano to direct first episode of Taiwanese mini horror series “Ghost Door” after participating in the creating and writing process.

Taiwanese horror anthology mini-series “Ghost Doors” has started production with the filming of its first story and pilot episode, “Run Over,” directed by Filipino award-winning director Vincent Soberano.

Soberano is the first Filipino director to work for a Chinese-language narrative movie in Taiwan and not only will he be directing the pilot episode, he is also the creator and writer of the said episode.

The Filipino film director was able to pitch his script and get his project to be picked and financed by a film financing group in Taipei despite not being able to read, nor write in Chinese.

“I have to admit, this is the craziest, hardest project I’ve ever done,” Soberano says but with the drive to create the right story together with a creative team, he has managed to land on the project.

“Overcoming the language barrier in a production like this is definitely a nightmare,”he added.

“Run Over” is based on popular Taiwanese and Filipino urban legends which consist of eight stories and will be linked together by a common character that features a disgraced priest and a spiritual gatekeeper.

The cast will be headed by superstar Harry Lu, who recently starred in the Taiwanese drama film “Reborn” (2022) and starred in the Netflix series “2049” (2021), and will be starring together with other Taiwanese and Filipino stars.

Prior to this directing job, Soberano has worked on various international films in other languages with the likes of Jackie Chan’s “Police Story,” which was filmed in Beijing, China.

Soberano will be working alongside his wife, Sarah Chang, who plays opposite of Lu, co-director Hengyou Jen who is an NYU film student, assistant director Vincent Teng who has directed several international commercials, and director of photography Luke Cameron who speaks Mandarin fluently.
