KZ Tandingan will perform a song in Disney's new animated film
COMING to Philippine cinemas soon, Disney’s new animation film “Raya and The Last Dragon” will delve into the cultures of Southeast Asia.
As if that wasn’t enough good news, KZ Tandingan, a homegrown talent, will be singing a song entitled “Gabay” that is to be included in the film’s original soundtrack.
News broke out when Disney PH announced on Twitter that “Asia’s Soul Supreme” KZ Tandingan will be lending her remarkable voice to an all-new song titled ‘Gabay’ from Disney’s ‘Raya and the Last Dragon.’”
They also attached the official poster with Tandingan dressed and made up like an actual Southeast Asian royal.
What is exciting about this is that the song is written in Filipino!
It revolves around the themes of trust, strength, and unity and how these three values could contribute greatly to our plight to make an impact and change the world.
Disney and Raya and the Last Dragon’s creators made this move in hopes of empowering creative talents and representing Southeast Asian peoples in the stories they tell.
The song will be released on March 5. That same day, Disney+ will be premiering “Raya and The Last Dragon” in the US.
Since Disney+ is unavailable in the Philippines, we can go watch Raya (Kelly Marie Tran) look for the last dragon of her world (Awkwafina) in cinemas soon. (EFO)
