As taping of the film "Balangiga 1901" continues, EJay Faclon says an artist is judged not by his or her status as a lead or a supporting one as long as he or she delivers excellence in the job.

EJay Falcon doesn't see anything wrong in playing a supporting role.

Actor EJay Falcon believes that there’s no small role, only small actor.

He also believes that an artist is judged not by his or her status as a lead or a supporting actor, as long as he or she delivers excellence in the job.

This context has once again rendered the professional acting career of EJay when the role of Capt. Valeriano Abanador—the Chief of Police of Balangiga, Eastern Samar at the turn of the twentieth century when men and women of the town rose up in arms against the invading American forces—was first offered to Ian Veneracion in the film “Balangiga 1901.”

Falcon was assigned the role of Sgt. Pedro Duran—one of the military men who joined the natives in the insurrection—second only to Abanador in the magnitude of participation in the uprising.

“Bagay na bagay kasi kay Ian ang role ni Capt. Abanador. Gustung-gusto rin ni Ian ang offer at ang papel niya (The role of Capt. Abanador was tailor made for Ian. It was like a dream role for him. He liked the offer and his role),” informed Danny Marquez, the director of the film.
“Kaya lang, may locked-in taping si Ian pero kailangan na naming mag-shooting (But Ian was in a locked-in taping and we had to start the shoots already),” Danny added.

Marquez didn’t think twice about pulling up Falcon to replace Veneracion.

“Dream role din pala ni EJay ang Capt. Abanador,” said the megman.

When the Sgt. Duran role was opened, the production had to find a good replacement for Falcon.

“Walang problema. Si Jason Abalos, pumayag naman agad para sa papel na Sgt. Pedro Duran na bagay rin sa kanya (No problem. Jason Abalos agreed immediately to portray Sgt. Duran who also fitted his personality),” said Marquez.
“Walang problema kay EJay at kay Jason kung second choice lang sila (There’s no problem with EJay and Jason even if they are only second choices),” beamed Danny.
