With the announcement of the Stardew Valley Cup, old players are returning to their farms to see if they can play alongside the tournament challengers and go through the 100-plus tasks.

RELAXING simulation video game Stardew Valley that lets players farm, fish, mine, and forage,is now an esport after its developer announced a tournament with a $40,000 prize pool.

In the first Stardew Valley Cup, four of the community’s popular speedrunners and content creators will take on over 100 challenges around the game’s farming mechanics.

The game creator, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone announced the tournament on Twitter while Zach "Unsurpassable Z" Hartman shared the tournament mechanics on YouTube.

As announced on the video, the teams are given two weeks to study the challenge list and come up with strategies.

They are also expected to prepare for additional challenges to be announced on the tournament day.

The tournament will challenge the players’ skills in Stardew Valley knowledge and making the most of the game mechanics.

The tour begins on Sept. 4 and is hosted by ConcernedApe and UnsurpassableZ on the latter’s Twitch Channel.

Since its launch in 2016, Stardew Valley has been welcoming players to Pelican Town and give them full control of their farm.

However, the appeal for the game is maintained by the developer ConcernedApe with constant updates and new content.

It's said that the game can continue to keep players and hook new farmers even five years down the road.

Its fans even clamored for the Stardew Valley board game launched in February.

The game is currently available on PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS Vita, and mobile. Stardew Valley is also scheduled to debut on Xbox Pass this year.

With the announcement of the Stardew Valley Cup, old players are returning to their farms to see if they can play alongside the tournament challengers and go through the 100-plus tasks.

In a statement by Unsurpassable Z, he shares that the Cup is their idea to introduce a new way of playing the simulation game “that no competitive player has seen before.”
