Centennial Filipinos are given P100,000 incentives for their 100th birthday.

Centenarian Lola Eleuteria Porlas, better known as Inse Teria, received a P100,000 cash gift from the Mandaue City government on May 19, 2022.

She lives in Barangay Pagsabungan, Mandaue City and was born on April 18, 1922.

Under Republic Act 10868, or the Centenarians Act of 2016,all natural-born Filipinos who have reached one hundred years old and above, residing in the Philippines or abroad, shall be honored with the “Centenarian gift”.

The cash gift was personally handed over to Inse Teria by Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, Councilor Tingsol Cabahug, chairman of the Committee on Senior Affairs, and Diosdado Suico, head of the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs-Mandaue City.

Despite her age Inse Teria is still strong and listening to the greetings of local officials in her meeting with the officials. Her family members thanked her for the centenarian gift, which they said was a big help to Inse Teria's needs.

Last February, the Lolos and Lolas of Bogo City, Cebu also received a Letter of Felicitation from the Office of the President and a cash gift of P100,000. This appreciation is from the Department of Social Welfare Development via the city social welfare department (CSWD) in celebration and honor for reaching the centennial age.

Under the law, relatives of the beneficiaries must submit primary documents such as birth certificates and Philippine passports to the City or Municipal Social Welfare Office and the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) in their localities in order to avail of the benefits.
