Netflix orders a new season for hit series ‘All of Us Are Dead’

Netflix‘s zombie series ‘All of Us Are Dead,’ being one of the streamer’s top ten non-English-language shows of all time and its second most successful Korean-produced show, announces its return with a new season during Day 1 of Geeked Week.

“After its premiere, All of Us Are Dead shot straight into the top 10 most watched non-English TV series in a staggering 91 countries, and stayed there for two consecutive weeks. It also drew 361.02 million viewing hours in its first 10 days, with members kept on the edge of their seats rooting for the Hyosan High juniors over the 12 episodes,” said Netflix.

The show quickly rose in popularity and reached No. 1 in its seventh day of release on Netflix’s US daily Top 10 list, jumping into the top 10 most watched non-English TV series in 91 countries and staying there for two consecutive weeks as it drew 361 million viewing hours in its first 10 days.

Lead stars Park Ji-hu, Yoon Chan-young, Cho Yi-hyun, and Lomon were featured in a one-minute video thanking fans for their support and eventually confirming that season 2 is underway.

“We hope you also enjoy season two,” Lomon added. Yi-hyun also teased viewers: “What will happen in All of Us Are Dead season two?”

Based on the Korean webtoon “Now at Our School” by Joo Dong-geun, “All of Us Are Dead” follows different average high schoolers who end up at ground zero of a zombie apocalypse after a screwed- up experiment.

The students ended up getting cut off from the outside world by the government in order to control the outbreak and the stranded group was left to fend for themselves while dealing with different issues.

The first season finale of the show ended on a cliffhanger, with six survivors from the outbreak rescued but quarantined by the government, and class president Nam-ra (Cho) now a half-zombie.
