9 Pinoy films compete at California’s Facine 28 filmfest

On its 28th year, FACINE continues to give honors and recognition to the achievements of selected Filipino films produced and shown last year and this year.

WHO’S afraid of the Covid-19?

Not the Filipino Arts and Cinema International (FACINE).

On its 28th year, FACINE continues to give honors and recognition to the achievements of selected Filipino films produced and shown last year and this year.

FACINE has chosen nine films to compete in the annual film festival, this time held virtually in San Francisco, California and globally streamed from November 4 to 7.

The finalists will vie for awards in various categories as film, direction, writing, performances in both lead and secondary roles, male and female, editing, cinematography, visual (set, costumes and special effects) and aural design (sound, music).

A panel of three jury members will select the winners.

The finalists are:

•“Hayop Ka: The Nimfa Dimaano Story” (You’re an Animal)(Rocketship Studios, Spring Films, producers) Directed by Avid Liongoren, written by Manny Angeles, Paulle Olivenza. 2020.

•“Ikaw at Ako at ang Ending” (You and me and the Ending) (Viva Films, producer) Directed and written by Irene Emma Villamor. 2021.

•“Isa Pang Bahaghari” (Another Rainbow) (Heaven's Best Entertainment, producer) Directed by Joel Lamangan, written by Eric Ramos. 2019.

•“Kung Saan man Tayo” (Wherever we may be) (Project Reconnect, producer) Directed and written by Adrian Ellis Alarilla. 2021.

•“Lockdown” (For the Love of Art Films, producer) Directed by Joel Lamangan, written by Troy Espiritu. 2021.

•“Love and Pain in Between Refrains” (2525 Productions, 2076 Kolektib, producers) Directed and written by Joselito Altarejos. 2021.

•“Midnight in a Perfect World” (Global Studios, Epic Media, producers) Directed by Dodo Dayao, written by Dodo Dayao, Carljoe Javier. 2020.

•“Nerisa” (Viva Films, producer) Directed by Lawrence Fajardo, written by Ricky Lee. 2021.

•“On Vodka, Beers and Regrets” (Viva Films, producer) Directed and written by Irene Emma Villamor. 2020.

FACINE, founded and organized by film critic Mauro Feria Tumbocon, Jr., commits to advance the interests of cinemas from the Philippines and the Filipino diaspora.
