There’s no stopping the popularity and commitment of actress Maja Salvador in the biz.
For the nine-year itch in showbiz of Vince Rillon, there’s no backing out from the fight to occupy a space under the sun.
Maja and Vince are just two of the committed artists on film and television who have been consistently making waves in whatever they do in local firmament.
Their hard work and perseverance have paid off when their current films, “Arisaka” (for Salvador) and “Resbak” for Rillon are officially chosen to compete at the prestigious 34th Tokyo International Film Festival in Japan from October 30 to November 8, 2021.
“Arisaka,” a foray into the heroic life of a policeman directed by cult filmmaker Mikhail Red and “Resbak,” a story of youngsters involved in petty thievery of a motorcycle which leads to their discovery of a grim and brutal society around them under internationally acclaimed director Brillante Ma. Mendoza, are contesting with each other in the Japan fest, a first in the history of the world event.
Maja was Mikhail’s bet in the role and Vince was Brillante’s choice in the lead character both of which are demanding and challenging Salvador and Rillon didn’t mince words to retreat from the hurdle.
“Talaga pong pinagbuti ko ang akting. Sa totoo lang po, nagre-research talaga ako sa mga character ko bago ako isalang sa harap ng kamera (I really did my best in acting. In truth, I research on the characters I portray before I face the cameras).
“Dito po sa ‘Resbak,’ nag-interview ako ng mga (In this film, I interviewed) drug addict at pusher. Para mas realistic po ang papel ko (So that I can perform realistically),” informed Vince.
In Tokyo, “Resbak” has the title “Payback.”
